His Personality
I'll not be lying if I described Baralai as a polite, well mannered gentlemen and treat women with respect as well as his comrades...however there is another side to Baralai beneath all the niceness and politeness (which some say is just an act) Baralai is his temper. The problem is trying to understand who he really is inside; and if this is all just a front.
He is a genuine gentlemen and he'll politely introduce himself when he sees you, and excuse himself when he leaves nice guy can probably come from his upbringing, his ties with Yevon (or the New), or his being a leader and having to cooperate with all people.
He is a calm and focused individual which makes him a great leader but his past does not reflect this, it reveals the care-free and adventurous side of Baralai, he was ambitious, funny and devoted to his friends of the Crimson Squad. This Baralai is a contrast to the man we met in Bevelle. He has hidden the past, and hidden himself from others by choice as he has other responsibilities to worry about. What makes this character interesting is that Baralai is much deeper and complex than the serious gentleman on the exterior will let on.
Why Baralai?
Aside from Tidus, Baralai is a character I instantly fell in love with because of his handsome but cute appearance. I usually have to get to know the characters personality before I like them, but Baralai has such a cute face, I couldn't resist ^_^;. Not only do I like Baralai's appearance but he's not an easy opponent when you fight him, obviously he's stronger than he looks since Logos' comment on how he was a girly man and Paine intervened there as well and how else did he become the Praetor. There's two sides to Baralai's personality on the outside he may seem like a pleasant young man but inside he is dark Mwahaha.Another aspect is that he tends to hide things and keeps a lot of things secret. For example, Vegnagun, his past, his business. He excuses himself after a conversation and still you can feel you know nothing. His mysterious-ness is quite attractive to me anyhow ^__^'
