Relationships
Like most of the characters in FF:VIII Zell is an orphan but he seems to have a normal mother son relationship with his adopted mother, Ma Dincht.
We know he had a grandfather and he looks up to him as he inspired Zell boy to join Balamb Garden and become a seeD. 
As for Zelly's love life there is a special someone we hae to metion, the girl known only as "The Pigtailed Girl" she's a member of the library committee and has the hots for Zell...even saved a copy of his favourite mag Combat King for him and visited his humble home. Despite how Zelly is, I'd say he kinda likes having this girl chasing after him because he doesn't seem to have the slightest idea how to. You gotta give the pigtailed girl some credit though because to be Zell's girl you have to understand that you won't be first in his heart but a close second to his beloved hotdogs =3.
